Terms of use
Effective October 10, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and SOVO (“we”, “us”). They apply when you use the SOVO app and this website, sovo.world (together, “SOVO”). By creating an account or using SOVO, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use SOVO.
Who can use SOVO
You must be at least 13 years old. If you’re under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission. You’re responsible for your account: keep your sign-in details safe, and don’t share your account or use anyone else’s.
Your content
Your content is everything you add to SOVO: your rankings, stays, notes, trips, saved hotels and profile.
- You own your content.
- You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and share your content within SOVO, as our Privacy policy describes, so we can run the service. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies in backups, which are removed on their regular schedule.
- You’re responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.
Community rules
SOVO has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Don’t post anything, or do anything, that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone;
- is hateful or discriminatory, or promotes violence;
- is sexually explicit;
- shares someone else’s personal information without their permission;
- impersonates a person or an organization;
- is spam, a scam or advertising;
- infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights; or
- breaks the law.
We may remove content that breaks these rules, and suspend or permanently remove the accounts that post it, without notice.
Reporting
To report a user or content, email support@sovo.world with the person’s handle and what you saw. We act on every report within 24 hours: content that breaks these rules is removed, and so is the account that posted it.
Using SOVO fairly
Don’t:
- copy, scrape or collect data from SOVO by automated means;
- reverse engineer, decompile, overload or interfere with SOVO or its servers; or
- get around our security, or anyone’s privacy.
Hotel information
Hotel names, addresses, details and photos come from third parties, including Google. We don’t guarantee they’re accurate or current. Rankings and notes are the opinions of the people who post them, not ours.
Ending your use
You can stop using SOVO at any time, and ask us to delete your account (see Support). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if the law requires us to. If we stop offering SOVO, we’ll give you reasonable notice where we can.
Disclaimers
SOVO is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we don’t promise that SOVO will be uninterrupted or free of errors.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to SOVO is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 Canadian dollars. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can’t be waived.
The App Store
If you downloaded the app from Apple’s App Store, your licence to use it comes from Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies alongside these terms. In addition:
- These terms are between you and SOVO only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or privacy law.
- If anyone claims the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo, or designated by it as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, except where the consumer protection law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell you in the app or by email before a significant change takes effect. If you keep using SOVO after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
